The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, the wheels on the bus go round and round all the way to RSPCA.
Thank you to all the lovely staff at the RSPCA Noosa for inviting us to see the animals and decorate some cupcakes on Friday. Who could say 'No' to kittens and cupcakes, not us.

We all had a great time, we are very lucky to be able to go on excursions around our local community. Thank you to the Tewantin Noosa RSLfor providing the bus.

Memories can be so sweet.

Everyone loves ice cream and today we had a real ice cream shop at Busy Bees. The Possums each had $1, they lined up at the shop and took turns to exchange their $1 for the ice cream of their choice. What a lovely way to celebrate a beautiful day in Noosa ... See more

We so look forward our monthly visits to the Noosa Community Support Centre. It was such a peaceful morning as everyone (young and old) really got involved in the activities. There was lots of chatting, co-operation and genuine interest in each other, regardless of age, as everyone got involved in making dream catchers, rain makers (we were very careful not to shake them just in case it rained on the weekend) and colourful necklaces and bracelets.

Thank you everyone, we can't wait to see what activities we will be doing next month.

NAIDOC Week may be over for another year, however, we incorporate an indigenous perspective into our learning on a daily basis. Last week our Wallaby children (3 years to school age) gained a greater understanding of how some people grew up when Miss Annette Wells visited and spoke to the children about her upbringing and culture. There was lots of talking about bush tucker, handling of an emu egg and damper making.

In our Possums Room ( 15 months to 3 years) the children listened to stories, danced to didgeridoo music, made johnny cakes, painted, iced cakes in the image of the Aboriginal flag and completed their sea turtles.

What a wonderful way to learn about Australia's first people and incorporate new experiences into our curriculum.

'Read Australia'

These are some of pre prep children learning early literacy skills with Miss Ann from @thelearningcentrenoosa.
Our children love learning about the monsters and we can see and hear them using their new skills ( sounding out words while they are playing, recognising letters and using their "duck hands' as they teach the younger children). Thank you Miss Ann for giving them an amazing start to their formal schooling next year. ... See more

'A child's level of phonemic awareness on entering school is widely held to be the strongest single determinant of the success that she or he will experience in learning to read — or, conversely, the likelihood that she or he will fail'

'Research indicates that, without direct instructional support, phonemic awareness eludes roughly 25 percent of middle-class first graders and substantially more of those who come from less literacy-rich backgrounds. Furthermore, these children evidence serious difficulty in learning to read and write' (https://www.readingrockets.org/article/phonemic-awareness-young-children)

These children are circling the 'visual prompts' that represent the blended phonemes, as part of the SSP 'Early Intervention for Dyslexia' on the Sunshine Coast, QLD.
They start school next year, and this fabulous SSP teacher is ensuring that any phonemic awareness deficits are indentified, and addressed, so that they are far more likely to read and spell easily - regardless of methods the schools use.
The children love Monster Mapping - each Monster has their own speech sound (ie it's linked to an IPA phonetic symbol) Here, they are listening to Miss Emma on the tv screen, watching the Phase 1 (Oral language and phonemic awareness) videos in the SSP Monster Mapping app.

Come to Term 4 training, in Brisbane, and include these activities within your first couple of weeks of Prep in 2020, to avoid reading and spelling difficulties, or at home if your child starts school within the next couple of years! https://missemma.selz.com/categories/ssp-monster-mapping-training (Watch the page for SA training dates)

Watch out you land-lovers, the might Busy Bees Pirate Ship has arrived. We have hoisted our pirate flag and are claiming all land and sea around 87 Eumundi Road as ours. Trespass at your own risk, however, safe passage is guaranteed to those with enrolment forms in hand.

Yesterday, to prepare our pirates who have been ashore too long, we hosted a dress up and skill refresher day. Our crew honed their treasure hunting abilities, map drawing, pirate bellow, bell ringing, plank walking and cutlass making skills.

It was a wonderful day, no pirates, young or old, were hurt in the bedlam that comes with pirates and children.

We are so lucky at Busy Bees Childcare Centre and Kindergarten as we have established strong friendships with many community organisation. One of our longest and strongest friendships is with RSPCA Noosa.

When asked by Nicole to make some grassy heads for the cats to play with the children went into planting mode. Not only did we learn new gardening skills, the children learnt the cats really need to eat grass to sustain a healthy gut.

Thank you Nicole and staff. You do an absolutely fabulous job and we love to help, We cant wait until we come to help you make 'cupcakes'.. P.s thank you for coming to visit us with your animals.

Building Lasting Relationships

Today was Jamiesons' last day, it was a day of tears, however, it was also a day of happiness. Happiness and good will for Jamieson and Beaus new adventure in Ipswich.

Jamieson came to Busy Bees as a student, she quickly showed drive and a determination to be the best educator that she could be. Under the support and guidance of Ellie, Jamieson turned her natural affinity with children into her strength, she is the 'baby whisperer' and she became the room leader of the Possums Room ( 15 mths to 3).

With children the relationships with parents, friends and care givers are paramount and with the help of Luona and Jody, the transition from the bonds the children had with Ellie was eased when she left. Jamieson was there with her laughter, her empathy and her love.

The relationships that the Possums staff have and maintain with each other, even when they have left, shows that they are a most caring and supportive team.

We are so lucky at Busy Bees to have such a wonderful staff that bring so many different skills. I know that Ellie, Jody and Regan will continue to bring the best out in the children and support everyone's children and family.

There will never be another Jamieson, we will miss her but we are excited for her next adventure
