Going hand in hand with the early phonetics learning from #TheLearningCentreNoosa is the mindfulness activities that our kindergarten children are also embedding into their daily lives.

Mrs Robyn Hill has being helping our children take a moment in their busy days to reconnect and be present in the moment, to be aware and to pay attention to what is currently happening. Mindfulness can boost emotional and physical well being and help with stress and anxiety. One moment the children are being balls of glitter, then being inside a bubble to finding their caring hands.

Children are amazing, they are constantly moving and experiencing, exploring their worlds and always learning.

Children who experience caring and responsive relationships and have been part of many stimulating experiences arrive at school ready to continue learning.

For the past month our Kindergarten children have been visiting Miss Anne from the SSP (Speech, Sound, Pix) Learning Centre were she has begun their journey into phonetic learning. The way the children are learning is a fun, playful approach to teach all learners how to read, write and spell.

It is truly wonderful to see how easy the children have taken what they are learning and using it in their everyday language.

The official Harmony Day may have come and gone, however, for our children the significance of the day stays with us all year. Our children learn about different cultures, family structures, beliefs and traditions and ways of living as part of our curriculum. We embed this through our programming, stories and activities.

One of the most anticipated days in our monthly calendar is the visit to #noosacommunitysupportcentre. This months visit was no exception as the lovely staff had organised for a visiting baby animal tour to greet us. We had some very serious 4 year old 'farmers' controlling the animals and making sure that they were looked after properly. Thank you for such a wonderful morning.

Terrific Tuesday began with a fantastic play in the back garden before walking to the newly refurbished Noosa Library Service for our weekly Storytime. At the library we listen to stories, sing songs, play with toys before running and rolling down the hill before stopping for a picnic. On the way back we see many things; like blood trees, fire engines, Australian flags peaking over fences. Whatever we see it is always imaginative and fun. We love our Tuesday walks to the library. ... See more

Learning and community is always a priority for us. Today we were very lucky to have Rosalyn from the Wilvos come to our kindy room and discuss the importance of being safe around some of our Australian wildlife. Rosalyn shared her wealth of knowledge about snakes, bats and caring for the injured animals which had all of our budding Wildlife Warriors wanting to grow up and volunteer for the Wilvos as soon as possible.

What a rewarding morning, thank you Wilvos for all your hard work

Namaste everyone. Is there a more peaceful and relaxing way to start our day of learning and play at Busy Bees than with yoga? The younger children start most mornings off with Cosmic Yoga which involves relaxation, mindfulness and yoga that is designed specially for kids. Each yoga session gets its inspiration from childrens books, concepts and movies. I wonder what tomorrows Cosmic Yoga will be based on. Nameste ... See more

Aussie, Aussie Oi, Oi, Oi,
What a wonderful way to into the groove of Australia Day than with a little thong throwing, followed by an Queensland inspired 'Toad Racing (do not fear, no cane toads were hurt in our rather loud and fast game). To complete our morning of fun the children were paired with a younger friend and participated in a treasure hunt named ' Two flag Australia'.

Of course, no Australia Day celebration is complete with out koala biscuits and 'Toad in the creek' jelly.
A day of laughter and smiles from everyone

Fighting Food Waste
As part of our commitment to our local community and for a sustainable future, we have been teaching the children about sustainable practices in our centre, our homes and in our broader community. It is important that the children not only understand that sustainable practices involve recycling and worm farms but it also involves helping those who are less fortunate and at the same time helping the environment.
Every Friday afternoon a local volunteer from #OzHarvestSunshineCoast comes and picks any unused left over foods that we have not used during the week. It is wonderful to see how involved and responsible the children are towards caring for their environments and local community.
